Dr. Odell's Bio

Dr. Scott Odell has practiced dentistry for over 35 years. Prior to joining Virtudent, Dr. Odell served as faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (PDM), where he served as Director of the Medically Complex Clinic (providing comprehensive dental care to patients), Director of the Oral Medicine Honors Program, Co-Director of Radiology Honors program, Director of the Admissions & Emergency Department, and Chief of the Emergency Care Clinic. In Radiology, Dr. Odell reviewed CBCT scans, taught students the intricacies of reading conventional and advanced radiographs. As a Clinical Professor at PDM, Dr. Odell won 10 awards for excellence in teaching. He is a 2 time winner of the Outstanding Service to Students, twice he won the Outstanding Teaching Award and a 6 time winner of the Appleton Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award.

Dr. Odell graduated from Williams College in 1978 with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and subsequently graduated from Penn Dental Medicine in 1982. After graduating from dental school, he entered private practice in a suburb of Philadelphia. For 20 years, Dr. Odell developed his practice by performing all aspects of general dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. Additionally, Dr. Odell has a Master’s degree in Actuarial Science from Temple University where he earned the Dean’s Certificate of Excellence and was admitted to Gamma Iota Sigma. He enjoys running and following local and professional sports, as well as spending time with his wife and children.
