Trident With Xylitol

We love xylitol!

Xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol that tastes just like sugar, but doesn’t have the bitter after taste that most artificial sweeteners have. Best of all, xylitol can’t be used as fuel and digested by the bacteria in your mouth! This inhibits bacteria that cause cavities from growing. Over time with xylitol use, the quality of the bacteria in the mouth changes and fewer and fewer decay-causing bacteria survive on tooth surfaces. Less plaque forms and the level of acids attacking the tooth surface is lowered.

For Expecting Parents: Studies show that cavity causing bacteria are passed from parents to their newborn children, thus beginning the growth of these decayproducing bacteria in the child. Regular use of xylitol by mothers has been demonstrated to significantly reduce this bacterial transmission, resulting in fewer cavities for the child.

Trident gum has xylitol and has been approved by the American Dental Association (ADA). The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs’ Acceptance of Trident Sugarfree Gum was based on its finding that the physical action of chewing Trident Sugarfree Gum for 20 minutes after eating, stimulates saliva flow, which helps to prevent cavities by reducing plaque acids and strengthening teeth.
