Position Summary:

The Manager of Clinical Quality and Safety will have primary responsibility for directing and managing clinical quality and improvement initiatives across the team of registered dental hygienists at Virtudent. The Manager is responsible for building and maintaining a rigorous clinical quality program, compliance with regulatory requirements across markets, and promoting patient safety and infection control best practices. The Manager will work closely with the Dental Director to establish vision and direction for the Virtudent clinical program within the framework of current regulations, training requirements, and the company’s strategic growth plan. The Manager will also collaborate with the management, operations and product teams to provide input on equipment design, workflow improvements and the patient experience.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the Dental Director, oversee clinical competency review and annual/monthly training required for all clinical staff across the organization
    • Manage on-site and/or telehealth audit process of hygienists
    • Maintain and update documentation of all HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and CPR training required on an annual basis (or as often as required)
    • Ensure CE and licensure documentation on file for all clinical staff; maintain internal documentation about CE requirements by state and help hygienists to secure necessary compliance documentation within states of practice (i.e. NH radiation rings)
  • Design, direct and oversee implementation of clinical quality improvement programs across all markets with the guidance of Dental Director and Management team
    • Identify, research and implement new protocols and procedures as appropriate
  • Partner with market-specific VP/General Managers on recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding of new clinical staff
    • Maintain relationships with recruitment agencies, dental organizations, and other hygienist networks to help source candidate leads
    • Formalize and apply a standardized onboarding checklist for all new hygienist hires, in tandem with VP/GM or Operations Manager
  • Partner with market-specific VP/General Managers and Dental Director to recruit and maintain the highest quality in-network community dental partners
  • Identify and organize professional development opportunities for the clinical team, including national and local hygienist and/or dental conferences, lunch and learn opportunities with industry leaders, etc. 
  • Document and maintain all clinical processes and protocols for clinical staff, including processes related to instrument sterilization in accordance with industry standards
  • Establish and maintain a flu shot program for all patient-facing clinical providers
  • Attend Virtudent Management meetings to provide clinical input on behalf of the hygienist team
  • Identify and organize professional development opportunities for the clinical team, including national and local hygienist and/or dental conferences, lunch and learn opportunities with industry leaders, etc.
